Arriving at Cadwell Park, we knew we would be in for a amazing day ahead of racing, Cadwell is one of my favourite tracks and with a grid that's more packed than a tin of sardines, with 34 drivers split into three power-to-weight ratio classes, I couldn’t wait to get out into free practice.
The car felt great in the first 15 minute session, which we shared with the time attack cars during their warm up, next time out would be qualifying.
Qualifying went really well, when on my last lap I set the fastest class B time, and out myself in pole position (first one of 2024)
Race One
I lead my class from the front, finding myself up amongst the class A cars, driving the Cadwell circuit its hills, and bends and long corners before coming back into the view of spectators, it’s a fast long track, and the race went all my way until 2 bends before the end when on the mountain my drive shaft snapped, and I had to retire in the escape road, 2 corners away from my first win, I was gutted, but with my amazing team straight to work on the car, we was very hopeful we would be back out for the next race.
Let's not forget the Track Attack race days, the air is thick with the scent of burning rubber from Pro Drifters and the roar of Time Attack sessions. It's a petrolhead's paradise With spectator numbers soaring into the thousands, the sun was shining and the buzz around the track was amazing.
