Brands Hatch Civic Cup Race Report Brands is my home track, and I always have a lot of supporters come here to watch me race, This was our second time at Brands Hatch this year with civic cup was also the penultimate weekend of the season, we started off with a free practice session where I was just getting used to the car and track again, all was going well, car set up was as I wanted it, pace felt good, track conditions were ok. On the final lap I decided to push a bit more and put in a 55.154. Next was qualifying where the track was a bit warmer and a few minutes in just as I was getting into a rhythm a red flag came out. The session restarted and I was p2 in class until the final lap where I threw everything at it and managed to set a 54.904 to grab me pole position in the Production Class. Race one I got an ok start and was side by side for the lead coming up to Druids where I made a mistake and locked up and went into a cup car completely my mistake, I’m only human. I limped to the pits with bits of bumper rubbing on my tyres, the team did an amazing job to patch up the car and get me back out on the track, I still finished the race although was 2 laps down. Race two was much better I got a rapid start and took the lead on lap one but coming round the last corner I had to take to the grass and avoid an incident and joined the track side by side for the lead going onto lap 2. Unfortunately, the safety car came out and as I was just behind I had to let off and fall into 2nd place. When the race was finally restarted, I had to let a cup car through loosing me a second but I was able to catch this up but where I was quickest I wasn’t able to make a move due to yellow flags so had to settle for p2 in the end much more happy with myself after my mistake in race one.
I would also like to say a big thank you to Kurt who was following me with a camera all weekend and I’m really excited to see what he makes with the footage!! Watch this space!!
Looking ahead to the last round now, which is at Snetterton, my favourite circuit in a few weeks’ time, I’m still a secure 2nd place in the championship.
As always thank you to all my sponsors and everyone who supports me and all the members of club #28
